Dear Diary: Seaside shenanigans, Wight Raven loveliness, workshops and pockets

Egads! This past few weeks have been busy, amazing, wonderful and awesome but busy. I am tired but extremely happy.

In the past couple of weeks the Kitchen Witches have pretty much been living in each other's pockets (pockets are always useful) and it has been truly lovely.

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

Yesterday we spent the day at the beach, now although we obviously incorporated lunch in a nice cafe and an ice cream, we were actually working. We have what we think is an absolute corker of an idea tied in with a cunning plan, so yesterday was the beginning of it...watch this space.

Wight Raven Summer Camp

Last weekend we were at the very wonderful Wight Raven summer camp. A new venture that we were extremely happy to support. The camp is set in absolutely stunning landscape and the energy was amazing, such a happy and relaxed vibe. We cannot wait for next year!

I got to meet up with fellow Moon Books author Scott Irvine and listen to his talk on the Magic of Serpents. And catching up with the very lovely Claire Pingel, her talk on Mary Magdelene was fabulous and incredibly thought provoking (she has a book out on Mary next month). Oh...and Rik cooks the best cheesy chips ever.

Workshops - Raw Eden

We have had the pleasure of leading several workshops at the brilliant Raw Eden Apothecary, this week it was a workshop on the Triple Goddess. Keep an eye out for more workshops coming in the next few months. If you are in the Wickham area do pop in, the shop has some brilliant products and plenty of witchy items (I can highly recommend the Magic Melt makeup remover).

Workshop - Crystal Wicca

September sees us revisit the Crystal Wicca shop in Hayes, Kent where we will be running a day of short workshops on divination, ritual and the Wheel of the Year, hop on over to their website to see more details and book.

Sulis

Sulis is making herself known at the moment, the limited edition Sulis hoard sold out within a couple of days. We are running a FREE two hour online Sulis workshop to celebrate the publication of my book Pagan Portals Sulis in September. Details can be found on the fb event page, but it will be streamed live to both fb and YT.

Sewing

On a personal note I recently dug out my old sewing machine (actually it was originally my mum's machine that she gave to my daughter and my daughter then gave to me!). I was fed up with looking for clothes and only finding boring ones that were drab and/or didn't fit or suit my menopausal plumptious figure. However material is easily available in loud and brilliant colours and designs so I set about making my own. So far I have made two dresses and whilst I really don't enjoy sewing it did have good results. Most importantly I have made dresses with POCKETS, I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have pockets in my dresses. I did struggle with the old machine so I treated myself to a new one from the Singer outlet and I am very pleased with it. More dresses planned and some other witchy creations too. More news when I actually get five minutes to sit down and make some!

Menopausal moan

On another personal note, you are all aware of my menopausal journey I think. I am in about year 8 now of symptoms I reckon, but I am hoping the end is in sight. Recently some of the physical symptoms became quite intolerable, so I went back to the docs. A few tests later and they have put me on some HRT, and I have to say it is a huge relief because it seems to be working. I have tried every herbal remedy under the sun to no avail, this HRT treatment however does seem to do the job. Never think you have to 'just put up with it because it is a natural process'. Seek help, it is there, you might have to shout a bit, but there is assistance out there.

The Wheel keeps turning

Summer rolls ever onwards with a mix of stupidly hot days and then rain (the British folk always complain about the weather), before long we will be heading into autumn. Stay connected; to the land, the weather, the seasons and most importantly to each other.
