Plant Spirits & Energies
Every single plant, tree, herb and flower will have its own very individual and unique energy. That energy can be use for magical or medicinal purposes. So you could use the herb, leaves, petals or seeds within your magical workings – magic powders, witches bottles, mojo bags etc or you could use the plant parts in medicinal teas, tinctures or salves. But you can also connect with the plant spirit and use its energies for healing, knowledge or seeking answers to questions. If you want to find out what magical property a particular herb or plant you have in front of you has, there is a very simple way…ask it! Calm and centre yourself, have the plant or herb in front of you and slowly bring your hands up and towards the plant, as you do so ask (out loud or in your mind) if you can connect with the plants energy (its aura if you like), as your hands get closer to the plant you should start to fill a resistance coming from the ‘bubble’ that is the plant’s energy field. As you connect with this energy ask what magical properties it holds, hopefully your intuition will answer you. Plant spirit guides can also be connected with in various ways. Dreams and meditations are the easiest way to meet your plant ally. Before you go to sleep put out the intent that you would like to meet a plant spirit guide, in particular YOUR plant spirit guide. You will often find that in your dream you will see a plant, tree or flower or you might smell the scent of an herb or even just hear the name of a plant mentioned in your dream. This will often be backed up by seeing that same plant the following day whilst out and about or on the television or in a book. If you prefer to meditate, set out the intent that you want to meet your plant spirit guide before you make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and focus on your breathing, then see where your mind takes you and what landscape it leads you to. Plant Spirit Guide Meditation Make yourself comfortable in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, if it is outside even better. Focus on your breathing…deep breaths in…deep breaths out… As the world around you dissipates you find yourself beside an old grey and crumbling brick wall, you put your hand out and touch the cold stone. You start walking along beside the wall…you come to an old cast iron gate set into the stone. You gently push on the gate and it swings slowly open with a loud creak. You pop your head around the gate to see what lies on the other side and are taken aback with the magical sight before you. Inside this old stone wall lies a beautiful garden. There are rows and rows of gorgeous colourful flowers, lines and lines of vegetables all ready and waiting to be harvested and all surrounded by heavily laden fruit trees. You step inside… Take a walk up and down the rows of flowers, make your way in between all the vegetable plots, smell each flower, taste the fruit from the trees, investigate the whole garden. Take in the sights, the scents and the sounds. Watch the bees and the butterflies as they flit from flower to flower. As you are wandering around you come upon an old wooden bench so you sit and soak up the warm sun on your face and take in your whole surroundings. As you sit…ask for your own personal plant guide to make itself known to you. You may get the name of a plant in your head or an image might appear…see what comes to you. When the plant spirit guide makes itself known to you ask what it can do for you, what knowledge, guidance or healing it has to share… When your plant spirit guide has finished communicating with you, give thanks for its time and guidance, know that it will always be available to you whenever you need it. Then gradually make your way back out of the garden towards the gate in the wall. When you reach the gateway turn and take one last look back at the garden and know that you can return here anytime. As you step through the gate you are brought back to the here and now. Open your eyes and wriggle your fingers and toes.
